Photography is Art

I was told recently that photography is art and I needed to start looking at my photography as artwork.  I totally agree!  Portraits, landscapes, nature, still life, and street photography are art.  I'm sure I have missed listing some other forms.  When you look at a landscape, it can make you feel a certain way and transport you to that early morning sunrise where the mist is still floating above the golden earth.  This feeling is the intended purpose of the photographer.  You are feeling that same thing that the photographer felt while he was capturing this moment in time.  That is art.  He wanted you to experience the same peaceful, serene feelings that he was experiencing.

We cherish our photographs of our loved ones.  A photograph captures a moment in time of your daughter, son, mother or father, your newborn.  A moment that will always be remembered.  A memory that will never be forgotten.  Portraits are art.  The expecting couple wanted to remember this moment and pass this memory to their unborn child.  A portrait can be cherished for generations to come.

Art is everywhere.  You just have to see it.  A photographer is an artist and we create art.
